7 Tips and Ways to Take Care of Yourself Better this Winter

The Winter season is a good time to do some self-reflection and see how you can take care of yourself better. This is especially important when this cold weather can make you feel a bit down, and be more prone to getting sick.

7 Self-care Tips and Ways to make you feel better this winter.

1) Sleep Early

If you usually sleep late, try to go to bed an hour earlier. This will give your body enough time to rest and recharge as the winter season makes our bodies feel more tired.

2) Take Care of your Skin

Moisturize often as cold weather makes your skin dry and more prone to breakout. Switch to beauty products that contain natural ingredients.

If you can, try creating your own homemade skin care regimen like Face Masks using ingredients already found in your pantry.

3) Go for a Walk Daily

A few minutes of walking daily can boost your energy and mood. You can do it at any time of the day as your preference - whether first thing in the early morning when you wake up or late in the afternoon before you hit bed. Walking for 30 minutes or so a day is a great way to improve your overall health, not just this winter season but try to maintain it all year round.

4) Write a Gratitude List

Winter may bring a feeling of being down or sad for some people. One way to ensure that you stay happy and positive is to keep a Gratitude Journal. Write down at least 10 things that you’re thankful for every day. When you give thanks even to the little things in your life, this can bring back a feeling of fulfillment and satisfaction and makes your mind focus on the abundance of things in your life.

5) Hydrate - Drink More Water

In wintertime, the air is mostly dry, thus it causes our body to feel dry. As a result of losing moisture in our skin, this can make us dehydrated. Make sure you drink more water than you normally take. Don’t forget to drink at least one glass right after you wake up, a few glasses throughout the day, and at least one glass before going to bed.

6) Nourish Yourself with Good Winter Food

To beat the low energy and immunity during cold winter weather, indulge yourself in some really good warm winter food. Choose a meal that has a variety of colorful veggies. Remember, what you put in your body not only nourishes your physical body but also greatly affects your mind and thoughts. Keep a healthy diet.

7) Take a downtime.

Winter can be a good time to unwind, relax, and just enjoy your downtime. A few things you can do is read a book you’ve been putting aside, take longer hot showers, lighting up your candles and freshening up your home with new decors or arrangement, meditating or taking light exercises for a longer time. While all of these can be relaxing, you can also choose to do nothing at all and just snuggle in bed in your cosy sleepwear.

It is important to note that these tips and ways are not only applicable in winter but you should do these on a regular basis too to keep your overall health in great shape always!
